Aaron Anderson, LSU WR

March 18, 20261 min read

Strengths

Great overall athleticism; vertical speed, stop/start ability, lateral cuts, he has all of it.
Good break at the top of routes.
Good overall YAC ability. Has nice shiftiness, vision, and can put on some moves.
Very willing and decently effective run blocker. You see this as well in passing plays; if a teammate gets the reception, he is immediately looking to who he can block on the defense so his teammate can get extra yards.
Great feel for zone coverage and settling into the soft spots.
Release packages have some nuance to them and he can beat press off the line.

Concerns/Weaknesses

While he can work through press, corners that are physical through the route are a problem for him.
Arms look to be shorter which brings catch radius concerns, but are less of an issue in a slot role.

Key Statistics / Notes
Receptions: 33
Yards: 398
College Dominator: 14.5%
Dealt with a number of nagging / recurring injuries during this season.
Last year posted 61 receptions for 884 yards.

Summary

There are a lot of areas in Anderson’s game that I really like. He is a good overall player at the position, and does a lot of things very well. The problem for him is just going to be size and physicality concerns which affect the ceiling. The size, if he does come in smaller like I expect, he can’t fix, but I think he could get stronger to deal with the other issue. The floor feels decent to me as long as he can keep up with the physicality of the NFL game.

With a natural tendency toward analysis and facts, scouting college players for the NFL became a love of AJ's during college, and a very time consuming hobby in adulthood.
