Strengths

Elite change of direction ability. In the Purdue game you see his ability to plant a foot and shift his hips to move laterally almost without losing a step.
Excellent patience. Waits for his blockers to make a gap, sometimes can even dupe a LB into filling the wrong gap, and then hits the hole with speed and power.
Excellent vision and maneuverability in the trenches. Tends to always find the right crevice of space.
Powerful and strong runner paired with great contact balance. You see the motor when he tries to run through defenders that gain him additional yardage on a very consistent basis.
Homerun NFL speed with good burst.

Concerns/Weaknesses

Not an overly creative runner in space outside of a spin or hurdle he uses on occasion. He tends to try and win with speed and power (and he does win).
Average route running ability. He has the athleticism for it, but he runs routes with a complete lack of urgency at times.
Pass blocking is at best average. Rather than use the hands and anchor, he tends to throw a shoulder on flat feet which will be considerably less effective in the NFL.

Summary
Love has been on the NFL draft radar for a while, and he makes good on that expectation with what he put on tape this year. He is not a blue chip level prospect like we’ve had in the last two drafts (Bijan/Jeanty), but he is a solidified RD1 prospect that can be a dependable starter for years to come.
