Drew Allar, Penn State QB
Strengths
Great arm - the strength and zip that he can put on the ball is impressive.
Great size and athleticism. Not an elite athlete, but has the ability to pick up chunk yardage with his feet.
Good pocket presence and escape-ability.
Good anticipation on his throws.
Concerns/Weaknesses
Accuracy is inconsistent at all levels of the field.
Inconsistent in working through progressions.
Not creative when rushing the ball; more of a straight line runner.
Does not look good outside of structure. He can make some crazy off platform throws, but the consistent decision making/accuracy in those situations is not where it needs to be.

Summary
The draft community last year, in general, was divided between loving Allar as a potential RD 1 guy, or hating him as a Day 3+ guy. I fell into the former of those categories, which is why I still fall on the “rosier” side of things. This, to me, would be an ideal fit to a Rams type of QB situation. You have an established, but aging, QB that is the uncontested #1 on the team, and you have the ability to bring in the toolsy young backup at a discount to try and bring him up to snuff for the NFL. As a Day 3 pick, the upside on that price seems well worth it to me.
