Strengths

Green dot for the defense that is calling out coverages and making real-time adjustments.
Deployed all over the Georgia defense; outside and inside linebacker, on the defensive line, and in the nickel.
High level athleticism.
Great QB reader in zone coverage. Also showed that he has the necessary click and close ability to capitalize on the read and be disruptive.
Great tackler both in terms of efficiency and technique.

Concerns/Weaknesses

Decent blitzer, but nothing that looks above average.
The reaction time in the run game is just a step slower than I would like it to be and it causes him to be more reactive than proactive.
The play strength seems about average.

Confirmed by Georgia’s DC, Allen was the defensive play caller for most situations this year. I don’t remember the last time I ever heard that; absolutely wild.

Summary

Allen is a player that looks to do a lot of things well, but nothing at an elite level. He also doesn’t have a lot of meaningful holes in his game either. My “problem” with him right now is that what stands out to me the most is between-the-ears, and then the tape itself feels solid but not anything that consistently shows high end upside. That being said, he is smart and athletic, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets drafted higher than what his tape score is.
