Carson Beck, Miami QB

March 06, 20261 min read

Strengths

Good anticipation on his throws.
Surprising athleticism and can get chunk plays with his legs.
Good accuracy on short-to-intermediate throws.

Concerns/Weaknesses

Too often tries to push the ball downfield instead of taking what the defense gives him.
Accuracy takes a hit once the ball passes 15 yards down the field.
Refusing to take a sack / throw the ball away creates a lot of unnecessary turnover worthy plays.
Can get too stuck on the first read which causes turnover problems when the DBs are reading him.

Key Statistics / Notes
Career Games started: 43
QBR: 81.8
Yards per Completion: 11.2
INT to TD: 2.5%
Completion: 73.3%

Summary
Beck was a prospect that I never got on the hype train for to start the 2024 season, and my general feeling of “meh” about him has continued through the 2025 season. What I see is a prospect that has a high output of turnover worthy plays, and no high end traits to speak of. If you loved 2023 you could justify Day 3, but otherwise Late Day 3 is probably the place.

With a natural tendency toward analysis and facts, scouting college players for the NFL became a love of AJ's during college, and a very time consuming hobby in adulthood.
