Cade Klubnik, Clemson QB

March 12, 20261 min read

Strengths

Surprising athleticism - not an NFL weapon but I saw a couple times where he froze a LB in open space.
Great feel for the pocket and can maneuver his way out of tough situations.
Good accuracy in the short-to-intermediate with decent touch.

Concerns/Weaknesses

Almost all snaps this year were in shotgun.
Does not work through progressions on a consistent game-to-game basis.
Anticipation on the throws is just not there.

Key Statistics / Notes
Career Games started: 40
QBR: 62.7 (78.7 in 2024)
Yards per Completion: 11.7
INT to TD: 1.7%
Completion: 66.6%

Summary
Klubnik was a prospect that I had higher expectations for after the 2024 tape, as I thought if he put all the pieces together, he could sneak into the RD 1 conversation. Unfortunately, that did not happen. What I see on tape feels like classic backup-NFL QB play. Can operate an offense, with some limitations, but is by no means going out and winning you football games on his skill level.

Tape Grade: RD 4 (6.50 - Good Backup)
NFL Position-Type: QB - Game Manager

2025 Games watched: LSU, UNC, Georgia Tech
2024 Games watched: Georgia, Florida State, Wake Forest, NC State, Louisville

With a natural tendency toward analysis and facts, scouting college players for the NFL became a love of AJ's during college, and a very time consuming hobby in adulthood.
